History

In 2004, people from the sector met to discuss current and future innovation in Agri-food and its impact on Quebec’s economic development. Seeing an urgent need for action, they entrusted a working committee with a mandate to explore how members of the scientific and business communities could best approach the problem.

This led to the creation of the Alliance pour l’innovation en agroalimentaire (APIA - Alliance for Innovation in Agri-food), whose objectives are are to support networking between academics and business people and to encourage Agri-food businesses to integrate technology transfer and innovation in their management strategies.

Positioning

The APIA acts as an interface, providing government representatives with information and analyses to take into consideration when thinking about the chain of innovation in the Agri-food sector.
